Eco-Education Latest News

Schools are breaking up for the summer holidays and, looking back, it’s been a busy school year for tEC’s environmental education programme. This year we’ve made 30 visits to schools, reaching more than 4000 children and young people.
We’re always impressed by the inherent concern that children have for their world and it is a privilege to help them find out more about the challenges we face and how they can help to look after the environment.

We’ve been busy developing our activities and resources and now have a complete Water Saving programme of activities for Key Stage 2 including a game-show style assembly, “Who Wants to be a Water Saving Superstar?”.

Our latest environmental education project is now underway with St James C of E Primary School in West End and Fair Oak Junior School taking part in a series of 3 visits from our team. Children are carrying out environmental audits of their school and tEC is supporting them and their teachers to implement eco-action plans to improve the schools’ sustainability. We’re looking forward to working with these schools throughout the coming autumn term.

We’re grateful to our funders for supporting this work:
John Lewis, Cooperative Membership Community Fund, Southampton Airport Communities Fund, Crawley Borough Council, West Sussex Community Initiative Fund, The Ernest Cook Trust.
