This week we held the sixth and final workshop of our pioneering ‘Energy Saving in the Home’ course, run in partnership with Sure Start (Lordshill, Shirley Warren & Coxford).
With a packed itinerary of talks, hands-on practical activities and guest speakers, learners were taken on a virtual journey discovering a whole array of simple and cheap ways for their families to save money and help look after the environment.

Hitting the Cold Spots helps hundreds

Since October 2012 HtCS has assisted over 600 Hampshire residents with information and advice, fixed over 50 heating systems, provided 75 oil-filled radiators, completed 160 home free home assessments and made over 500 referrals to partner organisations.

Energy Action Southampton Event

We have been working with Carers Together talking to their groups around Southampton.
We recently visited the Asian Carers group at the Third Age Centre, Cranbury Terrace. We gave a presentation about DIY energy saving, answered many questions and gave away lots of draught proofing kits. More than 20 front doors will be having an energy efficiency makeover thanks to this event! Many thanks to Carers Together for welcoming us into their groups.

Works start on innovative ‘eco-terrace’

Building works have started on a terrace house in Southsea to refurbish it into an eco-friendly, modern, family home.
84 Jubilee Road, an early twentieth century house, is owned by the council’s housing service and is being refurbished using the latest environmentally-friendly techniques.
