EPCs (Energy Performance Certificates) are certificates generated following an assessment which provides a rating for the energy efficiency of a building. EPCs are now a legal requirement when buildings are bought, sold or rented within Europe.
Display Energy Certificates (DECs) are required for public buildings and show the actual energy usage of a building, which is then displayed in view of members of the public.
