Part 2 of the Act[1] makes it mandatory for the Local Planning Authority to:
- consider matters that affect planning and necessary development in areas with their jurisdiction;
- as a matter of policy directive and good and sustainable practice, take into consideration the physical, economic, social and environmental characteristics of the area
This is vital as sustainability and environmental considerations are core attributes of an effective planning tool.
