These are more in-depth workshops aiming to equip people with the skills and knowledge they need in order to help other people in their community or clients they work with. Through practical activities and discussions, attendees learn about energy efficient appliances, home insulation, setting heating programmers correctly, grants and loans for energy efficiency, de-mystifying energy bills and tariffs, and top tips for choosing a new energy supplier.
3. Tackling Fuel Poverty
Fuel Poverty exists when a household cannot afford to heat the home to a healthy and comfortable level. Our Energy Advisors are local experts in fuel poverty, working directly with vulnerable households as well as with frontline staff and volunteers. These training sessions cover the causes of fuel poverty, including detailed information about the incidence of fuel poverty in your area; the effects of fuel poverty, especially on the health and wellbeing of the people affected; and up to date information on the practical and financial help available for residents.
4. DIY Skills for Energy Efficiency
Practical workshops to gain hands-on experience of installing simple energy efficiency measures at home, such as draught proofing, reflective radiator panels and secondary glazing. Sewing workshops teaching how to make simple thermal layers for existing curtains are also available.
