Funding to boost the Green Deal for Local Authorities

24 Local Authorities have won funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to boost uptake in the Green Deal through Green Deal Communities funding. A consortium of local and unitary authorities in the Solent region (Eastleigh, Gosport, Portsmouth and Southampton) were successful in their bid for a share of the £88 million on offer, as were East Hants District Council.

The DECC press release says that:

“the scheme will be rolled out on a street-by-street basis and will aim to help around 32,000 households install energy efficiency home improvements like solid wall insulation and hew heating systems so that they have warm, more energy efficient homes and better control of their energy bills.”
