Find out how your home could be more energy efficient to save you money on your gas and electricity bills, with a Solent Green Deal assessment from your local council.

Solent Green Deal is a partnership of eleven councils across the region. The scheme provides impartial and trustworthy advice to help people make energy efficient improvements to their homes in an affordable way, using council approved local contractors.

A Solent Green Deal assessor will inspect your home to see how energy efficient it is and recommend improvements such as loft, wall or door insulation, double glazing, smart meters, solar power or biomass boilers. They will estimate how much this could save on energy bills and put you in touch with one of the three Solent Green Deal providers. Once the work has been completed they will complete another check and provide an energy performance certificate (EPC).

Some people will be eligible for an ECO grant to help pay for the work or a Green Deal loan which can be gradually repaid through the money that will be saved in energy bills.

Solent Green Deal consists of; Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester city councils; Havant, Fareham, Gosport, Eastleigh, Test Valley and Rushmoor borough councils, and East Hampshire and New Forest district councils.

The Environment Centre (tEC) can refer you to the Solent Green Deal and additionally check if you might be eligible for extra help such as temporary emergency heating, benefits advice and energy bill discounts. You can call us on 0800 804 8601 for more information or visit our projects pages.

If you would like to contact the Solent Green Deal team directly, visit or call Freephone 0800 052 2242.

If you live in the Basingstoke & Dean Borough Council or Hart District Council areas then there is a separate project called Energy Action North Hampshire. See this news article:
