npower renewables is one of the UK's leading renewable energy companies, dedicated to generating electricity using sustainable, environmentally-friendly resources. It has a wide ranging portfolio that includes both onshore and offshore wind farms, hydro plant and co-firing biomass operated through our parent company RWE npower. Utilising these natural resources provides significant sources of power for the UK's present and future electricity needs.

Through our existing projects and those in development, we are already working in close partnership with communities and companies around the UK. In addition, through the npower Juice Fund, we are involved in research to harness the power of waves and tides - another source of clean, sustainable electricity generation.

Key Conference Sponsors
Drum Housing Association is a major provider of affordable / social housing in the East Hampshire region. Our current housing stock is approximately 4,750 housing units of mixed type and tenure. A further 250 new sustainable and energy efficient homes are built each year in the region.

The association is ‘not for profit’ and is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society, No 28156R and with our regulator, The Housing Corporation, No LH4090. The association’s operations are managed by the Drum Board.

The association was formed in 1996 and as such has just celebrated its 10th anniversary. The majority of our housing stock was formerly owned by East Hampshire District Council and was transferred as part of a ‘Large Scale Voluntary Transfer’ (LSVT) in 1996 to Drum Housing Association (called East Hampshire Housing Association until 2002). Residents voted in favour of the LSVT in return for which energy efficiency improvements were pledged and carried out to the entire stock, including the provision of loft & cavity insulation, window replacements with double glazing and the installation of efficient central heating systems.

The association currently employs a total of 145 staff, the majority of who are based at Drum Court, Petersfield. Our Care arm employs a further 65 staff who help elderly, frail and disabled residents to remain in their homes and community. We also have a large number of volunteers who support our business activity, including 40 residents who sit on and steer 12 continuous improvement groups.

The structure of the organisation is broadly as follows: Board, Management Team, Executive Team acting in a management capacity. Departments include Strategic Services, Finance & IT and operational departments Housing & Care, Property maintenance, Development and Customer Services.

Drum was one of three winners of the Housing Corporation’s prestigious Gold award for excellence in environmental sustainability in 2007. They are currently involved in a year long dissemination programme using the £50,000 prize money.

In December 2006, Drum amalgamated with Oriel (Southampton) and Parkside (Windsor) housing associations to become Radian group bringing the total stock to some 15,000 units with the aim of building up to 1,000 new build units per annum. Drum is also active partner within the Wayfarer development consortium of 8 housing associations based in the SE.

Paul Ciniglio, Radian’s Sustainability & Innovations manager, is employed within the Technical services department and reports directly to this department’s Director.

Individual Champion for Sustainable Energy

Sponsored by Vestas

Vestas is the world's leading producer of high-tech wind power systems. Vestas’ core business comprises the development, manufacture, sale, marketing and maintenance of wind power systems that use wind energy to generate electricity. In this section, you can find information about Vestas - from the history over the key figures and organisation structure to our vision, mission, values, strategy and goals.

Vestas started to manufacture wind turbines in 1979 and has played an active role in this dynamic industry ever since. In 1987, Vestas began to concentrate exclusively on wind energy. Since then, the company has developed from a pioneer in the industry with a staff of around 60 to a global hi-tech market-leading group with more than 13,500 employees.

At Vestas global experience and local expertise go hand in hand. Over the years, Vestas has built up a worldwide sales and service network. As a result, working relationships with turbine owners do not end with delivery. On the contrary, the final delivery of a turbine marks the beginning of close collaboration over a period of at least 20 years. In short, Vestas cares for its turbines, no matter where in the world they may be. This ensures that Vestas remains a truly trustworthy partner.
