Wendy Carmichael

Head of Projects, the Environment Centre (tEC)

Wendy Carmichael began her working career as an aircraft engineer (weapons and electrical), and then Supply Officer in the Womens’ Royal Naval Service. Wendy gained a BSc(Hons) in Environmental Protection in 1997 and become Environmental Manager at Flight Refuelling Ltd, a subsidiary of Cobham plc (aerospace and defence), where she implemented ISO 14001. Wendy also assisted the implementation of ISO 14001 at six other Cobham sites. Wendy then went on to develop Cobham’s response to Corporate Responsibility requirements, collecting and analysing data from 70 companies worldwide, and reporting the results in Cobham’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report. Her role also required advising group companies on environmental legislation, auditing environmental management systems and verified data at companies in the UK, US and Europe. In 2007, Wendy left Cobham to join The Environment Centre where she is now Head of Projects.

The Environment Centre provides practical support for companies, schools, community groups, the public sector, organisations and individuals. The Business division provides environmental reviews and auditing, consultancy, training, and assistance with environmental management systems. The Environment centre also hosts a business Club to facilitate networking and sharing best practice for local businesses.
