Jaime Solís Guzmán

Associate Professor, Technical Architecture School (EUAT) of the University of Seville, Spain

Jaime Solís obtained his B.S. in Industrial and Chemical Engineering at the Industrial Engineering School of the University of Seville in 2005. He was a research scholar at the Technical Architecture School (EUAT) of the University of Seville in 2005. In 2006, he became an associate professor at EUAT. He is now studying a Master’s and Doctorate’s degree in Architecture and Sustainable City at the Architecture School (ETSA) of the University of Seville. His thesis revolves around global problems of construction waste.

Jaime belongs to the research group ARDITEC (TEP 172), working in such aspects as waste management, waste consumption and recycled materials.

Prof. Solís has published or presented 10 articles, both national and European, revolving around issues developed within his research group.

Jaime collaborates since 2004 with the company UTE Alcores Recicla, a dealer specialized in construction waste management in a municipality called Los Alcores (Seville, Spain). Thanks to a cooperation agreement, Jaime Solís guides the scholars in the company, who are their students at EUAT. Besides, this collaboration will be deeper during this course as an elective subject, teached by Jaime Solís, has been offered to give the scholars in the company theoretical and practical training about construction waste management.

Prof. Solís collaborates in the development of the Construction Prices Bank of Andalusia (Banco de Costes de la Construcción de Andalucía, BCCA) to establish joint prices, binding to publicly funded projects. The costs system includes sustainable waste management and is published by the Technical Architects Association of Andalusia.

He is also a member of the national standardisation subcommittee of AENOR called Sustainable Construction, where the regulatory procedures to certify the legal sustainability of constructions are established.

At the moment, he teaches Real Estate Valuations, Construction Materials and the elective subject called “Integral Study of the Environmental Management of Construction Waste” at EUAT.
