Enviro Champs: Making Southampton a cleaner, greener city

Enviro Champs in action

Further information

Only four weeks left until the end of this year’s Enviro Champs project, where local students are helping to make Southampton a cleaner, greener city.
The volunteer Enviro Champs, working in various locations across the city, carry out a range of activities including litter picking, reporting fly tipping to the council, checking recycling bins for contamination and raising awareness of recyclable materials.

Laura James the Project Co-ordinator from the Environment Centre (tEC) said “It is inspiring to see so many volunteers giving up their time to make a difference and improve the local environment. Their work benefits everyone in the city, helping to increase recycling rates and reduce the amount of waste for incineration.”

The Environment Centre is working in partnership with Southampton City Council, The University of Southampton and Southampton Solent University to encourage local students to take part in this annual project.
